West African Djembe Drumming

Djembe drum is a goblet-shaped West African hand drum. Choose 3″–15″ heads and 12–65cm heights; pick single instruments or packs for 5–30 players; select rope-tuned, pre-tuned or mechanically tuned builds; wooden or bamboo shells with goatskin or synthetic heads; add padded cotton or canvas bags for protection and storage. Pro Wide Top and Educator Classic options support two-handed playing and quick class set-up.

Our djembe percussion drum range is designed for schools and community groups. Pro Wide Top models in wood offer a lighter feel and compact footprint, while Educator Classic gives deep-carved authenticity. Choose compact 9″ diameter, 35cm high for younger players or 11″ diameter, 50cm high for older hands; larger 13″ diameter, 60cm high suits ensembles. Classroom-ready djembe drumming sets reduce set-up time and support progression across Early Years, Primary, Secondary and SEND. Add padded cotton cases, canvas carry bags and African drum hats for safe transport and storage. Keep rope-tuned instruments stable by checking knots and using a tuning wedge; wipe goatskin heads with a barely damp cloth. Pair with Andy Gleadhill’s teaching resources for quick wins and Ofsted-aligned musical outcomes.
