Description
This Indonesian Gamelan 20 Player Budget Buddies Pack suits class groups from age 6+. It also suits community groups of any age.
The pack gives you everything you need to start a gamelan ensemble. You can play, perform, and compose.
The budget metallophones feel light and compact. They still give good sound quality. This set suits you when your budget is limited. It also suits you when portability matters.
This Indonesian Gamelan 20 Player Budget Buddies Pack includes 10 large instruments. You get 3 gongs, a Balinese drum, and 6 metallophones. You also get 10 pairs of Ceng Ceng (Balinese cymbals). They help keep time and mark accents. This mix gives you authentic Indonesian gamelan sounds. It also makes it easy to pair pupils. Each pair can share one bigger and one smaller instrument.
You get three sizes of metallophone. They cover three octaves. Each instrument uses traditional red, blue, and gold decoration. The metal keys hang from bamboo poles. They sit above individual sound chambers.
These and all our Indonesian gamelan instruments are made in Bali, Indonesia. This budget set uses recycled metal for the keys. It also uses low-cost wooden casings. However, it keeps authentic tuning. It uses the same Gong Kebyar Pelog Selisir tunings as the Standard and Premium models. The Balinese drum uses solid jackfruit wood. It uses two cow skin heads and tuning knots. The gong has a bronze centre. This improves resonance.
The instruments suit classroom use. The metal gong stands feel sturdy. They also break down into sections. So you can move them more easily. The metallophone casings have smooth finishes. They also use rubber bases. This helps protect the floor.
Special storage and carry bags are also available. They protect the instruments. They also help them last longer. They make transport safer too. This helps for outside events.
You also get two teaching guides by Andy Gleadhill. You get ‘Indonesian Gamelan’ and ‘Percussion Buddies’. The Indonesian Gamelan book takes you from basics to a first performance in 10 lessons. It includes ten pieces for a year or more of playing. It also includes teaching tips and a photocopy resource for planning and composition. Percussion Buddies shows you how to build percussion accompaniments. You can use it for gamelan, drumming, choir, ukulele, and more.
