Description
The Nursery Rhythm Kit contains an expertly curated selection of 15 percussion instruments that pack away neatly into the bamboo storage basket, with the big shaman drum sitting on top. Also included are a full set of 30 Music Cards with hints and ideas for 25 musical play sessions and a "What it's called and where it's from" card, that explains where each of the instruments comes from, what it's made of and how it's played.
The instruments in the basket are made from a variety of different natural materials, producing a rich variety of tactile and aural stimulation, all of it grounded (not the over-exciting or artificial feel and sounds produced by synthetic materials). The range of different actions needed to play the instruments means that players will learn to develop a range of fine and gross motor coordination.
The sheer number and variety of instruments encourages social interaction, non-verbal communication skills, game playing and all sorts of musical and creative adventures, from story-telling to sound-scaping and pure improvisation.
Up to 14 children can play together with an adult and it's brilliant for around 7 children at a time. For 3 years and over.
The Nursery Rhythm Kit was the Silver Award at the 2013 Practical Preschool Awards.
