Djembe Drum 6″ diameter, 27cm high, World Slap synthetic – pre-tuned – 6 pack

This pack contains 6 of the 6″ diameter Slap World pre-tuned djembes. This size is a great little drum for Foundation Stage and very young players up to age 5, and, although too small for two-handed drumming, will also give pleasure to older players. The pre-tuned design is clean and simple – there are no ropes or adjusters – and the hand prints on the playing heads act as useful reminders to players of where they should be striking the drum.

The playing heads are made from tough synthetic Mylar, a Dupont plastic that produces are really good sound and is quick and easy to wipe down. They’re also waterproof and so won’t change in tension if they get damp (or soaked through!).

The shells are made of polyvinylchloride, the same strong plastic that is used for water pipes, and they’re very tough, light and strong. The shells are also very resonant and produce a very full sound. The one-piece shells are covered in a colourfully printed textile “sarong”, featuring flags and maps of the world, and have rubber bases that protects the floor from scratches and the drum from cracks.

The pre-tuned Slap djembes are a great low-cost, lightweight djembe and make a very good starter djembe, particularly for settings that prefer not to use animal skins. Make sure you choose the right size – download our chart showing hand sizes and recommended djembe diameters for each age group.
