Nursery Starter Kit - 10 Instruments

A great starter kit for small nurseries and child minders and also perfect for use at home with children of 3 years and over. There are 10 natural and sustainably made instruments, packed inside a handy storage basket, so it's easy to keep tidy and won't take up valuable space.  There's also comprehensive teaching support included.

The instruments in the Kit are a drum,  a variety of different shakers, a scraper, a chime and a clacker, and they're made of wood, metal, goatskin and other natural materials so that the sounds they make are all different, and all aurally satisfying. The natural materials are very tactile and provide grounded sensory stimulation.

Because of the different ways they're played, the instruments help to develop a range of fine and gross motor skills, and the number and variety encourages verbal and non-verbal communication, sharing and other important social skills.

The Music Cards (click on the  image to the left to download a set) will give you lots of ideas for getting started on creative, open-ended musical play adventures with your children.  There's also a handy "Where it's from" card that explains the origins of each instrument, what it's made from and how to play it.
