Gamelan (Jegog) - Premium - Large 5 key

The ‘Gamelan (Jegog) - Premium - Large 5 key’ is a substantial sized key instrument in Gamelan Gong Kebyar ensembles. They are in tuned in line with the rest of our Gamelan instruments, so can be added to your existing ensemble without worry. This instrument has a range of one octave, and is pitched one octave below the ‘Gamelan (Calung - Jublag) - Premium - Medium 5 key’.

The keys are considerably larger than those of other Gangsa within a Gong Kebyar ensemble, and are played with a rather large, cloth-coated, rubber-padded spherical mallet. It generates the most wonderful low subsonic notes along with the main pitch which effectively becomes a constant warm pad underneath the rest of the performers to fill in any possible gaps in the overall sound.

Note that this is a very heavy instrument and it is highly likely that two adults will be needed to manoeuvre it around.
