Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best size for a djembe drum?
For most KS2–adult players, a 12" head on a 50–65cm shell is a flexible choice. This 50cm model with 12" head works well as a djembe for beginners and more experienced players alike.

How long does a djembe last?
With sensible care, a good djembe shell can last many years; heads and ropes are the parts that may need replacing. Sharing simple djembe drum facts with pupils—no sitting on drums, avoid damp, store off the floor—helps instruments survive busy school use.

Is this 13 inch bamboo djembe suitable for Primary and SEND learners?
Yes. The bamboo shell keeps the weight low so it’s easier for Primary, Secondary, Adult and many SEND learners to carry and tilt. For smaller hands or seated circles, you can mix this with 8" or 10" bamboo djembe drums.
