Description
The African Drumming Primary 10 Player Pro Wide Top Starter Pack is perfect for lunchtime and after-school groups, as well as small class groups for KS1 and KS2 pupils. This pack is ideal for schools looking to try out our collaborative ‘learning by playing’ approach before transitioning to whole-class ensemble drumming.
The pack includes 3 top-quality Pro Wide Top Djembe drums and 7 percussion instruments, offering a wide range of authentic West African drumming sounds. There are three sizes of djembes, enabling your group to differentiate between low, medium, and high parts of various drumming pieces.
The Pro Wide Top djembes are lighter and more compact than traditional djembes, specifically designed for classroom use. These drums feature extra-wide, durable drum heads, smooth shells, and rubber edging to protect both the instruments and the floor.
Included are two acclaimed teaching guides by world music expert Andy Gleadhill:
-
‘West African Drumming Book 1’: Taking the group from basics to their first performance in just 10 lessons, with a repertoire that can last for a year or more.
-
‘Percussion Buddies’: Teaches how to develop percussion accompaniments for a variety of music, including drumming, choral, and ukulele ensembles.
West African Drumming is an ideal group music-making activity for schools from KS1 to KS4, offering inclusive participation for students of all abilities. This set is especially beneficial for hard-to-reach pupils, using the power of music to engage students in ways other subjects may not.
